Five out of eight…
…that's the works Astra's balance in the 2007 Argentinean Touring Car
Championship season to date. In five of the eight rounds contested so
far, a Chevrolet Astra powered by the Spiess tuned 2-litre engine crossed
the finish line as race winner. "Thanks to the competitiveness and the
reliability we succeeded in gaining a pretty dominant championship lead,"
reveals championship leader Matias Rossi.
Still, the fast Argentinean is far from being satisfied with the 'half-time
title'. He has set himself the goal to defend his Argentinean Touring
Car Championship title secured in 2006. And currently, the team is on
a promising way to do even better than last year - by defending the title
and winning more races than in 2006. Then, Rossi celebrated five race
wins on his way to winning the title.
Currently, the reigning champion holds the lead with 105 points on his
tally, followed by his team-mate Christian Ledesma (82 points), the 2005
champion. At the same time, Chevrolet also proves to be very successful
in the manufacturers' rankings: with 211 points on its tally, the manufacturer
relying on Spiess power holds an impressive 48-point lead over Honda (163
points).
