TC2000
Race win and championship title
In Argentina, the young guns also are on the way to the top! The new
Argentinean touring Car 2000 (TC2000) Champion is just 22 years old: Matias
Rossi. On the way to securing the title, the young charger could rely
on proven technology and experienced partners: on Chevrolet's superior
Astra and the well-balanced 2-litre Spiess engine.
By crowning the hard work of the Cordoba based Pro Racing Group with
the second title for the Chevrolet Astra, Rossi followed the footsteps
of Christian Ledesma who had delivered the same feat in 2004. "I'm over
the moon," said the new champion. "The season finale ran just perfect,
thus offering me the chance of winning the most important title of my
career. Once again, Chevrolet succeeded in securing the TC 2000 title
with the Astra."
In the season finale, held at Parana, Rossi did not only succeed in defeating
his competitive Ford and Honda rivals in superior style. At the same time,
he prevailed in a race that turned out to be the arguably most thrilling
in the Argentinean championship's 27-year history. From his sixth grid
position, Rossi needed just a few laps to take the lead and defended it
until having taken the chequered flag.
"I'd like to thank both Team Pro Racing and Spiess Motorenbau GmbH based
over there in Germany," Matias Rossi added in the after-race press conference.
"Together, they provided me with an extremely competitive car that had
what it needed to win the championship."
