The Formula 3 Euro Series is regarded as the planet’s toughest and most competitive young-gun series. Renowned Formula 1 aces such as Lewis Hamilton, Robert Kubica, Nico Rosberg, Sebastian Vettel, Timo Glock or Adrian Sutil lerned their trade and honed their skills in the Formula 3 Euro Series – and the same applies to successful DTM drivers such as Edoardo Mortara, Jamie Green or Paul di Resta.
The Formula 3 Euro Series was created in 2003, following the decision of the French and German motor sport associations to do without continuing the organisation of their national Formula 3 series. Three races are contested on each of the about 10 race weekends. Only the latest spec of Formula 3 vehicles may be entered.
In 2007, Volkswagen returned to the sport with some test appearances and 2008, they made their Formula 3 Euro Series comeback as permanent engine supplier. The know-how and the competence of the Spiess engineers quickly resulted in successes. In 2010, the title was won in superior style and the triumph in the Formula 3 World Finale in Macau represented the icing on the cake.
The Formula 3 Euro Series is the partner series of DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) and consequently, the huge fan potential guarantees the biggest possible attention.
