Construction: versatile competence
Spiess Motorenbau GmbH does not only carry out the complete design
of all new engines but also attends to the reengineering of power units already
existing. The construction work is executed according to own specifications
or - if required - according to the respective customers' individual demands.
There must be a solution for every problem. With ingeniosity, extensive team
work and our massive wealth of experience, we have got what it needs to provide
innovative results.
To optimise the search for new solutions, we rely on the Unigraphics
Solutions software. As all departments work with the same software basis, the
flow of information is steady-going and consistent, thus enabling us to gather,
update and access our experiences at any time. Our construction department uses
the most sophisticated 3d CAD work stations for designing, constructing and
documenting all the respective engine's components. By means of a construction
accompanying FEM analysis, the components' solidity is subjected to extensive
tests. It goes without saying that the permanent data exchange with the customer
represents an inherent part of every contract. This data exchange is made possible
by all the popular interfaces, allowing for a safe communication at the same
time.
The CAM module implemented in the CAx system optimises the entire
work processes, from the first planning to the finalised component. Post processors
featuring up to five axis' do not only enable us to execute the output formatting
in different NC languages. At the same time, they also adopt the mathematical
determination of the tool's axial rotation and its angle towards the work piece.

| "Since the days when Spiess entered Formula
3 in the early 1980s, things have massively changed. Sophisticated technology
and - even more - the use of electronics have resulted in a major performance
boost and massive changes. In a very short period of time, Spiess dominated
the Northern European Formula 3 market." |
