Formula 3 Euro Series

Jubilations in the UK

Again, the Spiess Motorenbau GmbH had reasons to cheer: on the British Formula 3 Euro Series weekend, held at Brands Hatch, Signature Racing secured a superior one-two. The team’s two French drivers, Frank Mailleux and Jean Karl Vernay, finished first and second respectively, at the wheels of their Dallara Volkswagen single-seaters. For Volkswagen, it was the first one-two since having made their Formula 3 comeback.

“This one-two is a truly fine success in the still short history of the new Volkswagen Formula 3 engine,” said Volkswagen Motorsport Director Kris Nissen. “We worked extensively on the engine’s application.”

Italian Edoardo Mortara who secured the new Volkswagen Formula 3 engine’s maiden win in early June, in Pau, France, finished fourth in both rounds held at Brands Hatch. He currently holds second position in the championship and still may hope for winning the title.
