Mortara and Signature extend their lead
In the season highlight held at Nuremberg's Norisring, Italy's
Edoardo Mortara (Dallara Volkswagen) successfully defended his Formula 3 Euro
Series Championship lead. With Jean Karl Vernay (France), Robert Wickens (Canada)
and the aforementioned Edoardo Mortara, a total of three young guns racing for
Volkswagen Team Signature made it to the podium, in the seventh and eighth rounds
of the Formula 3 Euro Series season. A truly significant success for Volkswagen
and Spiess Tuning at it was secured in front of a massive crowd of about 140,000
spectators.
"On Nuremberg's street circuit, top speed is the key factor,"
said Volkswagen Motorsport Director Kris Nissen, "And the Volkswagen Group's
Formula 3 engine once again demonstrated its competitiveness, here."
In the championship, Edoardo Mortara has scored a total of 40
points, now, thus extending his lead over Formula 1 test driver Nico Hülkenberg
(Germany) who currently has got 25 points on his tally. At the same time, Volkswagen
Team Signature also holds the lead in the team championship.
