Championship Lead Defended

When travelling back home to Ditzingen, the Spiess-Tuning Formula 3 engineers were delighted with a major success! On the first weekend of May, Edoardo Mortara successfully defended his championship lead in the Formula 3 Euro Series. Mortara races a Dallara F308 Volkswagen entered by Team Signature.

In his home event, finishing fourth and third respectively was enough for the 21-year old Italian to remain championship leader in the planet's most competitive Formula 3 series. Powered by his 210bhp Volkswagen engine, Mortara secured seventh grid position in the qualifying session on Friday (2nd May), thus laying the basis for his successful weekend.

"In both rounds, Edoardo Mortara and Team Signature delivered in fine style," said Volkswagen Motorsport Director Kris Nissen. "The fact that they secured another podium finish demonstrates what can be achieved with a good package comprising driver, team, tyres, chassis and - quite obviously - the Volkswagen power unit."
