Formula 3 Euro Series
Elkmann also prevails in the Euro Series
Following the major success in the RECARO Formula 3 Cup - Opel-Spiess
engines have won all the ten rounds held so far - the successful combination
now also prevails in the Formula 3 Euro Series. In the eighth round of
the highly competitive series, Peter Elkmann succeeded in securing his
maiden victory.
At the first weekend in July, Elkmann won the race at England's demanding
Brands Hatch circuit. "It feels just great to have clinched the maiden
Euro Series win for me and my team, Jo Zeller Racing," beamed Elkmann
following his triumph in the 42-lap race. "The pole position turned out
to be the key factor as overtaking is virtually impossible on this short
track."
When crossing the finish line, the Erfurter at the wheel of his Dallara
F306 Opel-Spiess held a 0.968-second lead over the runner-up, Monegasque
Michael Herck. "I gave my very best to keep my opponents in check," added
Elkmann. "Actually, my win never was jeopardised." His Team Principal,
Swiss Jo Zeller who helped Peter Elkmann to secure the 2005 RECARO Formula
3 Cup title, also was happy after the Brands Hatch weekend. "This was
a great corporate effort of team, engine and driver. Here, it's all about
having a perfect set-up, an appropriately driveable engine and a clever
driver."
