Formula 3 Euro Series

Test races in the 2006 season

Important information regarding Opel's motor racing activities were recently confirmed by Motorsport Director Volker Strycek: Opel is going to continue its Formula 3 involvement, with the fact that Opel and its long-term tuning partner, Spiess, are going to design a completely new engine also representing a signal regarding Opel's amateur motor racing engagement.

As always, the new engine generation quite obviously will have to ride out an extensive development phase. Hence, the races the new power unit will possibly contest in 2006 should be regarded only as tests.

"Our new engine is already running on the test rig," reveals Opel Motorsport Director Volker Strycek. "It's more compact than our current aggregate and bases on the new generation of two-litre engines that Opel's production cars have also been equipped with, since a short period of time."
