ATS Formula 3 Cup
Getting ready for the second half
of the season
The ATS Formula 3 Cup teams are busy preparing for the second half of the season. From 12th to 14th August, Germany’s fastest single-seater series will be racing in Austria. The 13th and 14th rounds of the season will be held at the recently re-opened Red Bull Ring and it goes without saying that the majority of the drivers again can rely on the support of Spiess. After all, the engineers of the Swabian engine experts attend to the vast majority of the power units on the ATS Formula 3 Cup grid.
No doubt: those who want to win the Cup title this year will have to beat Richie Stanaway and Volkswagen. With 94 points on his tally, the Kiwi is the dominating championship leader. Stanaway races a Dallara-Volkswagen and therefore, he is one of the Spiess Motorenbau GmbH customers. The gifted 19-year old won seven of the ten races contested to date, scored points in every single round, set three fastest race laps and secured four pole positions.
Nonetheless, the ATS Formula 3 Cup once again proves to be a hard-fought series, this year, with 15 drivers having made it to the points, so far. Thursday, 11th August, will give a first hint regarding the balance at the Red Bull Ring as the Cup teams and drivers will have the chance of testing on the Austrian racetrack for about two and a half hours, on the Thursday prior to the race weekend.
