ATS Formula 3 Cup
Back-to-back wins in Eastern Belgium
Pole position and race win on Saturday, pole position and race
win on Sunday - for Volkswagen and Spiess, the race weekend at Zolder, Belgium,
proved to be a major success. In the event held at the 'Circuit Zolder', located
in Eastern Belgium, Richie Stanaway won the ninth round of the 2011 ATS Formula
3 Cup season, with Tom Blomqvist securing the win in round 10. And on the way
to their successes, both the Kiwi and the Briton could rely on the support and
expertise of the Spiess Motorenbau GmbH engineers.
For Stanaway, the reigning ADAC Formula Masters Champion, it
was the seventh win in his still short Formula 3 career while Tom Blomqvist,
son of rally legend Stig Blomqvist, celebrated his maiden Formula 3 triumph.
At the beginning of the summer break Formula 3 is entering now,
New Zealand's Van Amersfoort Racing driver Richie Stanaway holds a clear championship
lead in Germany's fastest single-seater series: the 19-year old has got 94 points
on his tally, 18 more than his toughest rival, Marco Sörensen (76 points). Nonetheless,
Stanaway mustn't rest on his laurels as there still are eight more races to
be contested - the next two on 13th and 14th August at Austria's Red Bull Ring.
