ATS Formula 3 Cup
Huge crowd in Saxony
At the Sachsenring, 32,000 motor-racing enthusiasts made for a fantastic atmosphere, representing the perfect backdrop for the third and forth rounds of the fastest German single-seater series’ 2010 season. And the ideal conditions due to brilliant sunshine on Saturday and Sunday turned the race weekend at the traditional circuit located close to Zwickau into a real pleasure for fans, teams and drivers.
Tom Dillmann who had lost his Oschersleben win due to having made a jump start was particularly motivated. With his Dallara F307 Volkswagen, the Frenchman secured back-to-back wins, thus giving his team, HS Technik, and Volkswagen an optimum result. “Once again it was demonstrated that a good qualifying result represents the basis for a successful race,” said Holger Spiess. “Stopping a skilled driver who qualified for the first row on the grid and makes a perfect start is extremely difficult.”
For Volkswagen and their engine partner Spiess Tuning, it was the fourth win in the fourth ATS Formula 3 Cup round of the 2010 season. With the first two events of the season contested, the four top-placed drivers in the championship – Tom Dillmann, Daniel Abt, Kevin Magnussen and Stef Dusseldorp – all rely on the proven 2-litre Volkswagen engine.
