This ranking rewards the fastest Formula 3 drivers in the qualifying sessions and the races, with €500 being awarded for each pole position and each fastest race lap.

The 2009 ATS Formula 3 Cup Champion scored a 21 points in this ranking, representing a total AvD Speed-Pokal prize money of more than €10,000. The 18-year old was presented the cheque by AvD Sport President Volker Strycek and Formula 3 President Detlef Kramp. “In the ATS Formula 3 Cup, Laurens represented a guarantor for wins and focused work,” said Volker Strycek. “I’m truly happy that we had the chance of supporting such a gifted driver and that AvD has provided the accordant assistance.”
Apart from Laurens Vanthoor, the following drivers also were honoured for their AvD Speed-Pokal successes: Dutchman Stef Dusseldorp, France’s Tom Dillmann and the two Germans Markus Pommer and Nico Monien. This means that the two most successful drivers of the past season relied on the competence of Spiess-Motorenbau GmbH as their Formula 3 engines are partly at home near Stuttgart.
