Formula 3 part of the FIA GT Championship support programme

Once again, the ATS Formula 3 Cup attracts public attention with an interesting innovation: this year, the fastest German single-seater series is going to hold two of its rounds in the support programme of the FIA GT Championship weekend held at Oschersleben.

"This is an additional highlight for our series as the environment of the husky GT cars represents a perfect platform for the ATS Formula 3 Cup," said Formula 3 Press Officer Peter Dahlmanns.

This means that the 2009 ATS Formula 3 Cup season calendar features 18 races, contested by the majority of the competitors with single-seaters powered by the proven Spiess 2-litre engine. The 18 rounds will be held on nine two-race weekends. The series will race on every permanent German racetrack and – on its only race weekend abroad – at Assen, Netherlands. Once again, the races held in the support programme of the Nürburgring 24-Hour Race will represent a special season highlight as more than 200,000 motor-racing supporters are expected to travel to the Eifel region for this event.
