ATS Formula 3 Cup
Longer races, free practice session
The sporting regulations of the ATS Formula 3 Cup will be altered in favour of teams and drivers, from 2009: on the one hand, the race distance will be extended and on the other, a free practice session will make the teams’ work easier.
To date, an ATS Formula 3 Cup race weekend featured two 25-minute races but with immediate effect, the race distance of every round of a season will be extended to 30 action-packed minutes. With these changes, the fastest German single-seater series makes another step taking it closer to international standards. Opting for a time distance instead of a certain number of laps guarantees that there won’t be any time schedule alterations throughout the weekend.
Another important advantage for the competitors is the addition of a free practice session to the weekend schedule. From now on, each of the nine race weekends will feature a 60-minute practice session, offering teams and drivers the opportunity to perfectly prepare for the two 30-minute qualifying sessions.
