Another podium for Vanthoor

Laurens Vanthoor represents a regular sight on the ATS Formula 3 Cup podium. At the EuroSpeedway Lausitz, the young Belgian once again came second, in the Saturday round. “It goes without saying that celebrating joint successes is particularly nice,” Holger Spiess described his feelings. During the race weekend held in the Niederlausitz region, the Managing Director of Spiess Motorenbau GmbH himself attended to Laurens Vanthoor’s Dallara F307 Volkswagen.

In the latest rounds of the season, the 17.year old secured three consecutive runner-up finishes and throughout the season to date, he clinched a total of five second places. “Now I’ve just got to win a race,” says Vanthoor. “I’ve got the pace to do so and my car is perfectly prepared by Team Van Amersfoort Racing.”

In the rookie ranking, set by automotive industry supplier ZF Friedrichshafen AG and the car magazine ‘auto motor und sport’, Laurens Vanthoor holds the promising third position. He lies just 13 points behind the leader and still has got realistic chances of securing the title.

There are another four races to go, in the 2008 ATS Formula 3 Cup season: two will be held in a fortnight, at the Sachsenring located close to Zwickau, while the venue of the two final rounds of the season, scheduled for 11th and 12th October, will be the Motorsportarena Oschersleben in the Magdeburger Börde region.
