ATS Formula 3 Cup
Win for the new OPC-Challenge
The debut of the latest ATS Formula 3 Cup engine generation couldn't
have been more successful. Both rounds of the season kick-off - held within
the scope of the Jim Clark Revival - were won by the new OPC-Challenge
Engine. In front of a record crowd of 33,500 spectators, Belgium's Frédéric
Vervisch prevailed in the Sunday round, with his Lola OPC-Challenge, while
Dutchman Carlo van Dam (Dallara OPC-Challenge) won the Sunday race.
The new power unit was designed and built over the course of the winter
by Spiess Motorenbau GmbH. The major advantages of the new OPC-Challenge:
superior durability, lower costs and bigger revision intervals combined
with the well-known high performance level. More than half the ATS Formula
3 Cup grid opted already now for relying on the latest Spiess-Power design.
The first two rounds of the season, held on the last April weekend at
the Hockenheimring, demonstrated: the ATS Formula 3 Cup keeps on taking
the fast lane. Thrilling races, with the rookies shining in particular,
help the series to prosper more and more. In addition to the print-media
coverage as extensive as usual, TV now also is highly interested in Germany's
fastest single-seater series: on Saturday, 12th May, the motor-racing
enthusiasts will have the chance of watching the season kick-off highlights
once again in an exclusive 30-minute magazine broadcasted by German TV
station Premiere from 11.10hrs.
