RECARO Formula 3 Cup
Down-the-line success
For three years now, the RECARO Formula 3 Cup has been held as successor
series of the German Formula 3 Championship that had been a major success
for many years, since 1975. And once again, Opel-Spiess celebrates down-the-line
triumphs: the cooperation has won all the championship titles and in 2005,
it also secured the RECARO Formula 3 Trophy.
In the antepenultimate round of the season, already, Opel-Spiess secured
the RECARO Formula 3 Cup title with Peter Elkmann (Steinfurt, Germany)
and Swiss team 'Jo Zeller Racing'. While Elkmann added the icing to the
championship cake by winning his sixth race, in the season finale held
at Oschersleben. Second and third championship positions were also taken
by drivers of cars that were powered by the Spiess tuned Opel engine.
The runner-up position was secured by Irishman Michael Devaney, racing
for team HS Technik Motorsport, while China's Ho-pin Tung (JB Motorsport)
finished third.
The 9th October at Oschersleben also turned out to be decision day in
the RECARO Formula 3 Trophy, open for 1999 to 2001 spec cars. Here, Kevin
Fank from Berlin prevailed in his Dallara Opel-Spiess entered by team
JMS Jenichen, with his team-mate, Christer Jöns (Wiesbaden, Germany),
having to settle for second place. And again, third place in this internal
competition was also secured by a Spiess driver: by Christopher Kunz from
Kaiserslautern in his team 'LogiPlus Wöss' entered Dallara Opel-Spiess.
