A perfect result

Never before has this feat been accomplished in the RECARO Formula 3 Cup! Never before in the series' history, had a driver succeeded in scoring the full points available during the course of a race weekend: 24. But Peter Elkmann did so in the RECARO Formula 3 Cup rounds held as part of the Truck Grand Prix at the Nürburgring.

Not only did the 23-year old win both races (rounds nine and ten) alone, but he also secured the pole positions in both qualifying sessions and set the fastest laps in both races, thus achieving the perfect result.

Currently, Team Jo Zeller Racing's Peter Elkmann is the measure of all things, in the RECARO Formula 3 Cup. His Dallara F304 Opel-Spiess is always perfectly prepared, hence, retirements are no issue. So far, Elkmann succeeded in scoring points in every single round of the 2005 season. Quite obviously, the young man from Steinfurt is on the way to secure his very first title behind the wheel of a Formula racer. Only in the middle of 2004, Peter Elkmann moved from kart racing to automobile racing.

For Opel and its tuner, Spiess, this year's triumph in Germany's fastest single-seater racing series would represent already the third consecutive title. Since the foundation of the RECARO Formula 3 Cup, all the winning cars were powered by an Opel-Spiess engine.

With 10 of 18 rounds being completed, Peter Elkmann has 92 points on his tally, second placed Irishman Michael Devaney scored 52 points and rookie Frank Kechele (47 points) holds third position. But there's one thing all the three front runners have in common: the Opel-Spiess engine.
