RECARO Formula 3 Cup
Top Speed 240 km/h at the Oval
Once more the Recaro Formula 3 Cup called for attention. Filled up starting
fields, numerous Rookies and most of all, surprisingly many german talents
starting here. On board is Spiess-Tuning, a first class technique partner
- who observed test driving very closely in the Niederlausitz at the beginning
of May.
There, at the EuroSpeedway, intensive testing took place as preparation
for the debut performance of the first german Formula racing series at
the Oval. The RECARO Formula-3-Cup carried out 2 races on April, 27. and
28. at the 2 mile Oval of EuroSpeedway Lausitz.
The Rookie-Test on May, 2. and 3. was held by the instructors Roland
Rehfeld and Alexander Friebel. Rehfeld, who was active in Formula 3 years
ago and later on assigned to numerous Oval-Races, was quite enthused about
the discipline of these young pilots. "We didn't have one unpleasant incident.
Everyone was highly concentrated and therefore at the end of the course
we could issue the Oval Licence to every participant."
Also "green light" was given by Spiess Tuning for the use of the 2-litre-Formula-3-engines
at the OVAL. "These engines are designed to also handle extreme situations.
The continuous total demand and curve driving has been tackled without
fault" according to Holger Spiess. During testing an average speed of
240 km/h was reached.
