Two Opel-Spiess victories at the start of the season

Spiess Motorenbau GmbH starts successful into the new season in the RECARO-Formula 3 Cup, winning both races. In front of 15.000 spectators, at Motorpark Oschersleben, on Saturday and Sunday the winners car was driven by a Spiess tuned Opel engine.

In beautiful sunshine weather, 22 pilots completed the 2005 Season Start of the RECARO Formula 3 Cup Doing so, the new F3 Race series has placed it self into a permanent position within the German Motorsport - moreover, Formula 3 is going to become more and more the highlight of the complete Top10 Event Package.

On the 23rd of April, Ho-Pin Tung crowned his F3 career with his first victory. At the same time, this triumph was also the first victory for a Chinese driver in more than 30 years of German F3-history. The driver, originally from Shanghai and now living in the Netherlands, forged immediately ahead to the top position in a Dallara with Opel Spiess engine, belonging to Team JB Motorsport. After 25 racing minutes he was pronounced the winner.

The day after, Frank Kechele had his great moment - also driving Dallara with the OPEL-SPIESS engine, but for the Team FS Motorsport. The rookie was able to use his pole position to take the lead and to finalize his first formula 3 victory. The 18 year old youngster living in Ulm, is therefore the new race leader in the still fresh season. Altogether the fastest Formula Racing Series of Germany will complete 18 races in this season.
