Senna at the wheel of a Dallara Opel-Spiess
The walls of 'Spiess Motorenbau' in Ditzingen, Germany, are decorated
with diverse posters provided with the acknowledgement of drivers such
as seven-time Formula One World Champion Michael Schumacher who celebrated
his Formula 3 successes with Spiess engines. In the future, another possibly
coveted item might be added to the poster collection: am item wearing
the signature of a truly famous name: Senna! The nephew of the late great
Ayrton Senna, Bruno Senna, is 22 years old and on the way to a successful
motor racing career.
In late March, Bruno Senna raced a team Bronte Rundle Motorsport entered
Dallara Opel-Spiess, at Melbourne's Albert Park. The quick Brazilian didn't
know the circuit but succeeded in just outclassing his opponents, nevertheless,
by securing three wins out of four races.
When Ayrton Senna passed away in Imola, in 1994, Bruno was just ten years
old. At the age of five, young Bruno had already started karting at his
uncle's farm, thus benefiting of the advice of the planet's best taskmaster.
The finale of the 2004 Formula One season, held in Brazil, represented
the highlight in Bruno's career so far: 2004 was declared an official
Senna-Year, in Brazil, hence, Bruno was offered the chance of completing
a demonstration lap with a Formula One Lotus of Ayrton Senna, in front
of the enthused Brazilian crowd.
