VW Race Touareg 2

In the past years, the VW Race Touareg has achieved remarkable results in various competitions worldwide.

Within five months, the 5-cylinder-diesel-engine has been developed by Spiess for the VW professional company teams at Rally Dakar 2006. This project became the first proof of strong competences in diesel-technology for Spiess. In the following years, the Rally Dakar maintained its reputation as toughest off-road event of the world and I 2009 we celebrated the triumph of the first victory of a diesel-engine in the 30 years of Dakar history. At the same time, it has been a double win of the South African-German duo Giniel de Villiers and Dirk von Zitzewitz as well as Mark Miller (USA) and his copilot Ralph Pitchford (ZA) at this legendary classic of the desert. Crew and equipment has proven to be the fastest and most reliable car for this challenge.

The engines are individual custom products and are assembled in the heart of the company by a highly qualified team. Here, quality instead of quantity represents the yardstick.

Here, the process represented by development and design, production and manufacturing comes full circle. On the test rigs, the components or the entire project have to definitively demonstrate if they meet the highest standards.
