It regularly is voted the 'Race of the Year': year by year, more than 200,000 motor-racing enthusiasts travel to the Nürburgring for this classic endurance racing event. For one week every year, 'The Ring' goes totally topsy-turvy. We are talking about the Nürburgring 24-Hour Race, held on the combination of the state-of-the-art Grand Prix circuit and the rich in tradition Nordschleife. All those making it to the finish line of this 24-hour event are true masters - and the one who wins is a real hero! In 2003, Opel delivered this feat with an Astra Coupe relying on the extremely powerful and reliable Spiess V8 engine. The mileage covered by winning driver line-up, Manuel Reuter, Timo Scheider, Marcel Tiemann and Volker Strycek, in this race was higher than any covered in a Nürburgring 24-hour Race to date.
